Mr. Louis Joseph Ramsey, Sr., 86, of Yemassee, entered into rest Friday evening, August 12, 2022, at his residence.
Born October 25, 1935, in Hendersonville, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Paul Ramsey and the late Gladys Fisk Ramsey. He was a civil service electrical foreman, having retired from the Parris Island Marine Corp Base after thirty-one years of service. In his earlier years, he worked for South Carolina Electric and Gas. He was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. He will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors, hunting, riding his motorcycle, and his dogs.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Florence Diane Ramsey; three children, Louis Joseph Ramsey, Jr. (Eva) of Yemassee, Wanda Haymans (Miles) of Aiken, and Mary Beth Weatherford (T.J.) of Tennessee; three step-children, Gary Necessary, Benjamin Cooler; Denise Cooler; and eleven grandchildren; as well as several, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Ramsey; and two sisters, Louise Glover and Nora Lee Ramsey.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, August 16, 2022, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Varnville. Interment will follow at 1:30pm that afternoon in Beaufort Memorial Gardens, 1 Copeland Drive, Beaufort.
