Lois Tuten

August 5, 1935 — January 21, 2017

Mrs. Lois Mae Moore Tuten, age 81, a lifelong resident of Hendersonville, entered into rest Saturday morning, January 21, 2017, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.  She was the widow of Mr. Riddick Wylie Tuten.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, January 24, 2017, from the graveside in Black Creek Baptist Churchyard, 4931 Black Creek Road, Walterboro.

Born August 5, 1935, in Hendersonville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph William Moore and the late Jessie Mae Varn Moore.  She was a lifelong member of Black Creek Baptist Church and will always be remembered for her love of the outdoors, growing her flowers and tending to her gardens.  A great southern cook, whose home and table were always open and welcoming, she will always be remembered for her macaroni and cheese dish as well as her biscuits.  She will also be remembered as a mother figure, not only to her siblings whom she helped raise but to the many others that loved her.

Surviving are: two children, Riddick Dale Tuten of Hendersonville and Lorrie Tuten Causey and her husband Clarence of Furman; two brothers, William Henry “Jack” Moore and his wife Thelma of Hendersonville and Ralph Moore and his wife Marilyn of Hendersonville; and two sisters, Lucille Murdaugh of Walterboro and Hazel Tindal of Summerville.  There are four grandchildren, Cody Tuten and his wife Mandy, Cassie Tuten and her wife Brittney, Chance Causey and Sophie Causey; two great grandchildren, Cooper and Caysen; her beloved pup, “Gizmo” and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
