Linda Hassell Wirth

January 24, 1946 — April 3, 2017

Mrs. Linda Hassell Wirth, 71, entered into rest Sunday evening, April 2, 2017, at her home in Round O.   She was the loving wife of forty-five years to the late Master Chief Robert George Wirth, II.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon, April 8, 2017, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.

Born January 24, 1946, in Greenfield, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Galen Hassell and the late Florence Tenney Hassell.   She worked as a medical transcriptionist and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Round O.   She graduated with the class of 1964 from Frontier Regional High School in South Deerfield, Massachusetts and then furthered her education at Northampton Community College graduating in 1966.   She and her late husband “Country” met each other and married a short six months later in 1971.

Surviving are: three children, Corina Lynn Hauber and her husband Michael Christopher of Toomsboro, Georgia, Jason Paul Wirth and his wife Tricia Rechelle of Summerville, and Kristin Dawn Stark and her husband Gregory Neil of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee; a brother, Stephen Hassell; a sister, Jennifer Coliskey; and four grandchildren, Thaddeus Paul Stark, Wyatt Austin Stark, Jooniper Jolene Wirth, and Torrin Levi Wirth.  There are many nieces and nephews that also survive.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Herr.

Flowers will be accepted or for those that so desire, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to the following:  Friends of Colleton County Animal Shelter, 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488; or to, Courageous Kids, 230 Old Dominion Drive, Charleston, South Carolina 29418.
