Linda Voss

d. November 8, 2009

Ms. Linda Gale Burkett Voss, 62, of 178 Poinsettia Lane, Round O, entered into her state of eternal rest Sunday morning, November 8, 2009, following a long and courageous battle with cancer at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to celebrate the life she lived, in one of the gardens she cultivated and designed, at 12 oclock noon, Saturday, November 14, 2009, at her family home, 178 Poinsettia Lane, Round O, South Carolina.

Ms. Voss was born September 30, 1947, in Colleton County and was a daughter of Mrs. Natalie Bealot Crosby and the late Master Sergeant Frank Burkett. In her younger years, she worked as a title searcher for Mr. Clyde Ackerman, Esquire at the Ackerman, Woodard, and Campbell Law Offices in Walterboro. Her true love in life was her grandchildren. During her years of living in Raleigh, North Carolina she worked for Harris-Teeter as a floral designer until her retirement. She was of the Southern Baptist faith and for many years had attended Doctors Creek Baptist Church in Walterboro.

Linda was known for her strong work ethic. She was the type of person that worked when it was not required, stayed over and worked many additional hours, and was always present at work before her duties required. She loved being with her grandchildren and always made everything she touched a little more special. She loved to design floral arrangements as well the interiors of many homes and gardens.

Surviving are: her son, Harold Lowery and his wife Angela of Round O; a daughter, Melissa Parrish and her husband Jeff of Walterboro; and a brother, George Burkett of Lafollette, Tennessee. There are four beloved grandchildren, who were the loves of her life, Heather Love, Lindsey Lowery, Cierra Lowery, and Zachary Lowery; two nieces, Randy Hoats and Denise Hoats; one nephew, Joey Hoats; as well as dear friends, Cheryl and Wade Ray and Charles and Beth Ricketson that also survive.

Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has respectfully requested that friends make a charitable donation in his memory to the following: Hospice Care of South Carolina, 134 Bells Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488, or donate at: www.hospicecare.net; or to, Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina, 86 Jonathan Lucas Street, Charleston, South Carolina 29425, or donate at: www.hcc.musc.edu.
