Lessie Wooten

Mrs. Lessie Lyons Wooten, 88, of Varnville, entered into eternal rest Wednesday afternoon, December 11, 2024, at her residence.  She was the wife of the late Robert Edward Lee Wooten.

Born March 17, 1936, in Smoaks, she was a daughter of the late Arnett Lyons and Ella Linder Lyons.  She retired from Scotsman Ice Systems as a quality auditor, where she worked for almost 30 years.  She attended Varnville First Baptist Church.  Mrs. Lessie loved being outdoors, whether she was playing some type of sport or cracking her pecans. She loved sport and was a softball and golf fanatic.  More than anything, she loved her family but especially loved her grandchildren.

Surviving are: her sons, James Edward Wooten of Varnville and Aubrey Wooten and his wife Margaret of Varnville; grandchildren, Renee Wooten Johnson and her husband Nick of Walterboro and Chase Sineath and his wife Holly of Cummings; great grandchildren, Hunter Sineath, Olivia Sineath, Mason Sineath, Cashea Sineath and Madelyn Johnson; sister, Joyce Brabham of Branchville; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, Chester Lyons, Parker Lyons, Donald Lyons, DD Lyons, and Bessie Myers.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, December 21, 2024, at Thames Cemetery, Varnville.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation following the graveside service at Varnville First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 165 Palmetto Avenue West, Varnville.
