Master Sergeant Lawrence Edward Vincent, Jr., United States Army (Ret.), known by many as “Tickie”, age 86, entered into rest Tuesday morning, July 14, 2026, at his home in Ruffin.
Born April 24, 1940, in Ridgeview, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Lawrence Edward Vincent, Sr. and the late Nellie Camp Vincent. He served a long and dedicated career in the United States Army, having retired as a decorated Master Sergeant who honorably served in Infantry during the Vietnam Era. He also retired as a mail sorter from the United States Postal Service in Columbia, South Carolina. Following that, he made Ruffin his home. He enjoyed hunting as well as fishing and was an accomplished scooba diver. He cherished his Goldwing motorcycle and will also be remembered for his love of tending to aquariums and his admiration of Pomeranian dogs.
Surviving are: his wife of twenty -eight years, Mrs. Judith Lamb Vincent; a daughter, Pam Helton and her husband David of Elgin; a step-son, Anthony Rowe of Georgia; a grandson, Paul Helton and his wife Kim; and the mother of his children and former wife, Lucy Vincent Knotts. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Carlisle Vincent.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed in his memory to: Friends of Colleton County Animal Shelter, 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
Graveside funeral services with military honors will be conducted at 11 o’clock Friday morning, July 17, 2026, from Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro. For those who wish to personally extend condolences, a visitation will follow the services at the Walterboro Church of God of Prophecy, 114 Peurifoy Road, Walterboro.
