Lawrence Montjoy

January 25, 1952 — February 8, 2013

Mr. Lawrence Earl Montjoy, Jr., 61, of Walterboro, entered into rest Friday evening, February 8, 2013, at his residence under the care of Sanctuary Hospice. He was married to Mrs. Rita Goethe Montjoy and was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Gail Nettles Montjoy.

Funeral services will be conducted 6 o'clock Monday evening, February 11, 2013, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.

The family will receive friends following the service until 8 o'clock that evening.

Born January 25, 1952, a native of Woodruff, South Carolina, he was the son of Mrs. Margaret Thomas Montjoy and the late Mr. Lawrence Earl Montjoy, Sr. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army and was a retired mechanic from the South Carolina Department of Transportation. He was a member of Bedon Baptist Church and was also a member of the Moose Lodge. He will be fondly remembered for his love of family and cookouts.

Surviving in addition to his mother of Round O and his wife are: five children, Andy Montjoy of Walterboro, Melinda Risher of Walterboro, Sara Hiers of Walterboro, Clint D. Goethe of Smoaks, and April L. Goethe of Walterboro; and a sister, Susan Montjoy of Walterboro. There are twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren that also survive as well as numerours neices and nephews.

For those who wish, the family has respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in his memory to the following: Colleton County Relay for Life, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, South Carolina 29406; or to, Bedon Baptist Church, 2410 Cottageville Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
