Laverne Fennell

Mrs. Alice Laverne Fennell, 87, of Brunson, entered into eternal rest Wednesday evening, April 17, 2024, at her residence.  She was the wife of the late George Edward Fennell.

Born April 17, 1937, in Colleton County, she was a daughter of the late Blanchard Fennell and Doris Polk Fennell.  She was a retired seamstress from Devan Manufacturing in Allendale, where she worked for 31 years.  She was also a secretary at Southeastern Exterminating for 12 years.  She was a member of Brunson Baptist Church.  She enjoyed fishing and especially loved working with her flowers and gardening.  Most of all, she dearly loved her family, always centering her life around them and taking care of them.  She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.

Surviving are: her son, Rodney Edward Fennell and his wife Linda of Brunson; brother, Howard Lewis Fennell and his wife Patsy of Estill; sisters, Jeanette Walker of Modoc, Edna Rose Smoak of Gaffney, Linda Kathleen Key and her husband Danny of Augusta, Georgia, Patsy Elaine Hawks and her husband Timothy of Gaston, Dottie Faye Zielinski and her husband Daniel of Aiken, and Violet Weathersbee and her husband Marion of Fairfax; grandchildren, Kelly Santana Green, Jessica Lenoir Fennell O’Dell, Chrystal Gail Belger, Richard Waylan Stanley, Joshua Aiden Fennell; 34 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; her close friends, Eric and Ashley Snead of Brunson and Kenny and Cathy Bozard of Brunson; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Wayne Fennell; her loving and faithful companion, Marion Griner; brothers, Billy Eugene Fennell and Lonnie Ray Fennell; brothers-in-law, John Walker and David Smoak.

Funeral services will be held 3 o’clock, Saturday afternoon, April 20, 2024, at Spirit of Life Ministries, 235 Chanel Drive, Varnville.  Interment will follow in Sniders Cemetery in Brunson.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation Saturday afternoon from 1:30 until the hour of service in the church sanctuary.
