Mr. C.W. Larry Doremus, 89, of 101 Bird Dog Road, Ehrhardt, died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Uni Health PAC in Bamberg.



Funeral services will be held 2 pm, Tuesday, January 18, 2011, in the Ehrhardt Southern Methodist Church, Broxton Bridge Road, Ehrhardt, with Rev. John Hucks, Sr., Rev. John Hucks, Jr. and Rev. Stephen Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery, Ehrhardt.



Mr. Doremus was born November 10, 1921 in Newark, NJ, the son of the late Mildred and Wilbur Doremus. He was the founder of Doremus Farms and was a poultry farmer for 36 years. He was an active member of the U.S. Coastguard, stationed in Charleston. He was a member of the Ehrhardt Southern Methodist Church and was a Gideon. He was honored for his faithful service as a Church Conference Chairman from 1982-2000 from the Ehrhardt Methodist Church.



Surviving are: his wife of 66 years, Virgie Doremus; son, Dennis G. Doremus and wife Virginia Skeet of Irmo; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Doremus of Ehrhardt; 10 grandchildren, Gary Doremus and wife Tiffanie of Fairfax, Jason Doremus of Irmo, De De Anderson and husband Kevin of Williston, Misty McCully and husband Jason and Tommy Doremus, II, all of Ehrhardt, Mike Hunt of Irmo, Curt Hunt and wife Allison of Chapin, Dee Johnson and husband Sean of Pelion, Chris Hunt of Irmo and Karen Hunt of Lexington; 14 great grandchildren, D.G., Nicholas and Sydney Doremus of Fairfax, Austin and Cade Cope and Ryley Anderson of Williston, Emma Doremus of Irmo, Harper and Madason McCully and Braylyn Doremus of Ehrhardt, Paul Randall and wife Katie of Greenwood, Allan Randall of Clemson, and Dawson and Madi Hunt of Chapin. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas L. Doremus, Sr. and two sisters, Ethel Reitz and Janet Colis.



Flowers will be accepted, or for those who wish, the family has respectfully requested that memorials be directed in his memory to: Ehrhardt Southern Methodist Church Building Fund.
