Mr. Kenneth Charles Stier, age 87, of Summerville, entered into rest Saturday evening, July 22, 2017, at the Veteran’s Victory House in Walterboro.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, July 25, 2017, in Grace Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, 1600 Trolley Road, Summerville.  The Reverend Richard Willsea, officiant.  Interment with Military Honors will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Ashley River Road, Charleston.

Born October 6, 1929, in Peoria, Illinois, he was a son of the late John George Stier and the late Pearl Nelson Stier Holmgren.  He served our country faithfully in the United States Army and was a graduate of The Citadel where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.   He retired as the President of Stier, Kent, and Canady Corporation and Able Iron Works.  Mr. Stier was a Charter member of The Grace Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod where he was active in many aspects of the church’s work to include serving as President of the Congregation.  He was a longtime member of the Boy Scouts of America and has also been an Eagle Scout Counselor.

Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Earlene Wagner Stier; a daughter, Deborah Carson; a son, John Charles Stier; a sister, Barbara Bruner; two grandchildren, Cydney Carson Epps and Erica Carson; and four step-children, Gail Shuford, Dan Shuford, Kathy S. Palama, and David Shuford.
