Kathy Phelps Stieglitz

Mrs. Kathy Phelps Stieglitz, 76, of Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday afternoon, August 23, 2025, at her residence.   She was the loving wife of fifty-one years to the late John Thomas Stieglitz, Jr.

Born May 7, 1949, in Charleston, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Audie Phelps and the late Doris Marlow Phelps.  She was the owner of Kanette’s Catering.  During the prime of her business in the 1980’s, she was a well-known figure in the catering world having provided her superb culinary experience at countless weddings and venues across the Lowcountry of South Carolina.  She was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church and will always be remembered for her love of gardening and raising show goats.

Surviving are: four children, John Stieglitz, III (Robin) of Walterboro, Tammy Stieglitz (Kenny) of Charleston, Jason Stieglitz (Elizabeth) of Summerville, and Jarrett Stieglitz (Lindsay) of Central; a brother, Mark Phelps of North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Mary Stieglitz Solomon of Charleston; seven grandchildren, Seslie Jones, Madison Terry (Austin), Jase Stieglitz (Kayla), Megan Stieglitz – Martin, Kayleigh Stieglitz, Jacob Stieglitz, Jameson Stieglitz; and four great grandchildren, Elias Jones, Paisley Stieglitz, Enessa Jones, and Jasper Stieglitz; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Phelps; and a sister, Suzanne Phelps Watson.

A private graveside interment will be held in Live Oak Cemetery in Walterboro.
