Mrs. Kathryn Parler Hogan, 87, of 700 Hampton Street, Historic District in Walterboro, entered into her eternal rest Saturday morning, December 18, 2010, at her daughters residence in Walterboro, under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina. She was the widow of Mr. Charlie C. Hogan.



Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Monday morning, December 20, 2010, from First Baptist Church of Walterboro, 124 South Memorial Avenue, Walterboro, with The Reverend Dr. Randy C. Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery, Jefferies Blvd, Walterboro.



Family and friends are invited to call prior to the funeral ceremony in the Sanctuary of the church beginning at 10 oclock that morning.



Mrs. Hogan was born January 15, 1923 and was a daughter of the late James Wesley Parler and the late Esther Avinger Parler. She was a retired bookkeeper for the Water Department of the City of Walterboro. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro where she was active in many aspects of the churchs work. At her church, she taught the second grade Sunday School Class for twenty-five years, and was extremely active in the missions and outreach programs of the church, having worked closely with the Sun Beams and was a member of the Womens Missionary Union. She was a family oriented person, always centering her live around her family whom she adored and her work for Christ through the actives of her church.



Surviving are: her two daughters, Dawn Hogan Grooms and her husband James of Cartersville, Georgia and Ann Hogan Carter and her husband Lee of Walterboro; and a brother, Thomas G. Parler and his wife Dora of West Columbia. There are three grandchildren, Jason Hogan Grooms of Covington, Georgia, Kimberlee Carter Strickfaden and her husband Scott of Huntersville, North Carolina, and Hunter Lee Carter and his wife Carly of Charleston; as well as two great grandchildren, Kylee and Lucas Strickfaden. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Avinger Parler and his wife, Geneva.



Flowers will be accepted or for those that wish, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to: First Baptist Church of Walterboro, for use with their Building Fund, 124 South Memorial Avenue, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
