Katherine Herndon

Mrs. Katherine Black Bryan Herndon, 87, of 513 Field Creek Road, Ruffin, entered into her state of eternal rest Wednesday morning, October 13, 2010, at her residence. She was the widow of Mr. Henry Graham Bryan and Mr. Felix Moore Herndon.



Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Saturday afternoon, October 16, 2010, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with The Reverend Dr. Randy Gardner and The Reverend Phares Elwood Chatham, III officiating. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.



Mrs. Herndon was born June 15,1923, in Smoaks, South Carolina and was a daughter of the late Henry Grady Black and the late Eula Smoak Black. She was a graduate of Smoaks High School, Class of 1941 and was a retired Food Service manager from the Colleton County School District. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro where she was a member of the Miriam Clark Sunday School Class.



Surviving are: a son, Mitchell Henry Bryan and his wife Mary Ellen of Walterboro; a daughter, Lora Bryan Vitello of Walterboro; and a brother, Ernest E. Black of Greenville. There are three grandchildren, Kathy Irene Bryan Polk and her husband Russell of Walterboro, Chris Vitello Peters and her husband Allen of Ruffin, and Ashley Vitello of Ruffin; as well as three great grandchildren, Angel Peacock and her husband Josh, A. J. Peters, and Aiden Smoak that also survive. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Holland McTeer Black and Henry Floyd Black; and two sisters, Elizabeth B. Smith and Ruth B. DeAngelo.
