Karen Collins

Mrs. Karen Lee Collins, 70, of 2089 McDaniel Town Road, Ridgeville, entered into eternal rest Thursday evening, May 28, 2009, at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Odyssey Health Care Hospice.



Funeral services will be conducted 4 oclock Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2009, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.



Mrs. Collins was born November 23, 1938, in Grand Rapids, Michigan and was a daughter of the late Alvin Cecil Brown and the late Lillian Martin Brown. She was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle in Cottageville where she was dedicated to serving the Lord. At her church, she served as a Deconess and shared her talent with others through her love of music. She for many years was active in nursing home ministries where she severed through music and by sharing the Word with others. She will be remembered for the love and devotion she possessed for her family as well as for her love of the outdoors, working in her garden, and helping others.



Surviving are: her husband of fifty-two years, Mr. Dallas Owen Collins; three children, Clayton Roger Collins and his wife Ellen of Greenville, Joanne Marie Collins Blair and her husband Tom of Ridgeville, and Darrell Lee Collins and his wife Toni of Ridgeville; a brother, Edward Brown of Grant, Michigan; and a sister, Linda Edenfield of Harlem, Georgia. There are eight grandchildren, Crystal, Glenn, Samantha, Austin, Thomas, Melissa, Joshua, and Ariel; as well as four great grandchildren, Micah, Jayden, Jaylyn, and Jasmine that also survive.



Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has requested that memorials be directed in her memory to: Gideons International.
