Clara June Peeples Gibson, 77, of Early Branch, entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning, April 1, 2025, at Pruitt Health Care in Walterboro.
Born June 12, 1947, in Ridgeland, she was the daughter of the late Fred Walter Peeples and Lowrie Lawson Peeples. She attended public schools in Hampton County and graduated from Wade Hampton High School in 1965. She retired from the Colleton County School District at Bells Elementary where she was a Teacher’s Assistant for 31 years. She was married to the late Charles Anderson Gibson for 25 years.
Surviving are: her children, David Gibson and his wife Sharon of Walterboro, and Cindy Thomas and her husband David of Islandton; grandchildren, Hannah Gibson, Kaleb Gibson, Brantley Thomas (Melyndi), and Allie Long (Alston); grand grandchildren, Braelyn and Keagan; sisters, Dorothy Beach and Carolyn Smith, both of Early Branch; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Benedict.
Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Saturday, April 5, 2025, at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. Interment will follow in Rice Patch Christian Church Cemetery, 15246 Sniders Highway, Islandton.
