Mrs. June Blocker Bennett, age 77, of 2889 Mill Pond Road, Ruffin, entered into her state of eternal rest Monday morning, May 24, 2010, at her residence under the care of Odyssey Health Care Hospice and surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Mr. John Wesley J.W. Bennett, Jr.







Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, May 26, 2010 , from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro with The Reverend Daniel Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in the Bennett Family Cemetery , 2889 Mill Pond Road , Ruffin.







Mrs. Bennett was born April 16, 1933 , in Charleston and was a daughter of the late James Dyal Blocker and the late Tilla Mae Pye Blocker. She worked for many years for the Wall-Mart store in Walterboro where she retired as a department head of the childrens department. She was a member of Evergreen Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Walterboro where she in earlier years was a former Sunday School Teacher. She centered her life around her loving family whom she adored and cared for greatly. She loved crafts and possessed a special talent with any type of work that involved her hands from sewing to crocheting. She also had a special admiration for baseball, always supporting the Atlanta Braves baseball team.







Surviving are: a son, James Donnie Bennett and his wife Barbara of Walterboro; three daughters, Cheryl Darlene Barker and her husband Jimi of Summerville, Deborah Ann Hascall and her husband Dale of Walterboro, and Teresa Elizabeth Bennett of Ruffin; and a sister, Barbara Blocker Hall of Ripley, Mississippi. There are six grandchildren, Missy Bennett, Ashley Hadwin, Brigette Autry, Jamie Barker, Stephanie Padgett and Joey Frasier as well as thirteen great grandchildren that also survive.
