Mrs. Julia Halter Altman, affectionately known as “Julie”, 71, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Thursday, November 7, 2024, at her residence.
Born September 4, 1953, in Charleston, she was a daughter of the late Herman Halter and Lizetta Richards Halter. Julie received her Masters Degree in Education and was a teacher for 16 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She, along with her husband, owns and operates Walterboro Discount Lumber. More than anything, Julie loved her family, especially her five grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
Surviving are: her husband, Derrall Altman; children, Bradley D. Altman (Stephanie) of Sumter and Angela Baker (Chris) of Walterboro; brothers, Jeffrey Halter and Henry Halter, both of Charleston; sisters, Katherine Bates of Charleston and Cindy O’Brien (John) of North Carolina; grandchildren, Christa Baker, Taylor Altman, Chad Altman, Shelby Baker, and Isabella Baker; as well as a host of other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Chadwick Ryan Altman.
