Julia Heron

August 21, 1932 — December 20, 2012


Mrs. Julia Hill Heron, 80, of Walterboro, entered into her eternal rest surrounded by her loving family Thursday morning, December 20, 2012, at her residence under the care of Odyssey Hospice. She was the widow of Mr. Robert Mallory Heron.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 Saturday afternoon, December 22, 2012, from the graveside at Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro.

Born August 21, 1932, a native of McCall, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late John Hill and the late Claudia Brown Hill. Having in earlier years resided in Aiken County, she made Walterboro her home in 1962. She was a retired secretary with thirty-five years of service at the Department of Social Services in Walterboro. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Walterboro where she was active in many aspects of the church’s work. At the church, she was a former Sunday School Teacher, member and past director for the Women’s Missionary Union, and was active with the World Changers. She will be fondly recalled for her special love for reading.

Surviving are: a son, John Brockman Heron and his wife Cindy of Irmo; and a daughter, Ann Heron Brookins and her husband Louie of Walterboro. There are five grandchildren, Tiffany Hudson and her husband Stan, Angie Smith and her husband Jay, Monica Dennis and her husband Sam, Brantley Rae Heron, and John Brockman Heron, Jr.; as well as six great grandchildren that also survive.

Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to: Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, Post Office Box 1178, Greenwood, South Carolina 29648.
