RUFFIN " Mrs. Julia Rae Crosby, 79, of 11308 Bells Highway, Ruffin, entered into her state of eternal rest Sunday evening, November 22, 2009, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Wednesday afternoon, November 25, 2009, from Bethel United Methodist Church, 16147 Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin, with The Reverend James Grubb and The Reverend David Cox officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard.
Mrs. Crosby was born March 10, 1930, in Dorchester County and was a daughter of the late Theodore McAlhany and the late Ester Hutto McAlhany. She was a retired substitute school teacher from the Colleton County School District having worked at the Bells Elementary School. She also for many years worked along side her family at the Ruffin Farm Supply, a company her family has successfully operated for many years. She was a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Ruffin Charge, where she was formerly active with the United Methodist Women as well as many other aspects of her churchs work before her failing health. She possessed a love for flowers and working in her gardens as well as a beautiful art and talent in sewing.
Surviving are: her husband of sixty-three years, Mr. Holland Benjamin Crosby; three sons, Warren Lanier Crosby, Sr. and his wife Allison, William Larry Crosby and his wife Lynn, and John Michael Crosby and his wife Myra all of Ruffin; two brothers, Gerald McAlhany of Walterboro and J. W. McAlhany of Branchville; and three sisters, Delores Wolfe and Sally Beth Thomas both of Branchville and Louise Berry of Reevesville. There are seven grandchildren, J. J. Cone, Niki Lynn Jones, Warren Lanier Bubba Crosby, Jr., Ashlyn Smith, Jeremy Crosby, Gabrielle Crosby, and Jalyn Crosby as well as five great grandchildren that also survive. She was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Benjamin Crosby and a brother, Furman McAlhany.

The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Crosby, 11282 Bells Highway, Ruffin.
