Biography

Mrs. Judy Padgett Carter, 64, of Buttermilk Road, Ehrhardt, entered into her eternal rest Thursday evening, May 26, 2011, at the Uni-Health Post Acute Care Center in Bamberg following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, May 29, 2011, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Ehrhardt with The Reverend Dan Stroman officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery, Lodge Road, Ehrhardt. Serving as honorary escorts will be members of the Bamberg Rescue Squad, Inc., and they are asked to assemble at The Funeral Chapel at 2:30 that afternoon.

Mrs. Carter was born October 10, 1946, in Smoaks, South Carolina and was a daughter of the late James Graham Padgett, Sr. and the late Blanche Smoak Padgett. Her work was one of the largest parts of her life, for many years she was proud to be involved with the Bamberg Rescue Squad, Inc., where she was a Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate. She was an active member of Smoaks Baptist Church. At her church, she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years and was also heavily involved with the Vacation Bible School programs as well as several other aspects of the church's work. She loved traveling to the mountains during the autumn months as well as had a great attraction and love for horses. Another large aspect of her life and dedication she cherished was her family. She admired her grandchildren with her entire heart and centered her life around their events, sports, and lives.

Surviving are: a son, Ronald Watson Carter, Jr. of Ehrhardt; a daughter, Heather Carter Pulaski and her husband Farrell of Ehrhardt; and a brother, James Graham Padgett, Jr. and his wife Ann of Smoaks. There are six grandchildren, Brian, Carly, Christopher, Justin, Lindsey and Trey that also survive. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Carter.
