Mrs. Juanita Guilford Smoak, 65, entered into rest Thursday morning, October 30, 2014, at her home in Walterboro. She was the wife of forty-three years to the late Mr. Norris Gene Smoak at the time of his death in 2008.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, November 5, 2014, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, 10565 Lowcountry Highway, Ruffin.

Born May 9, 1949, a native of Walterboro, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Guilford and the late Mary DeWitt Guilford. For many years, she was employed by the Piggly Wiggly in Walterboro where through her work in their meat department she became a well-knownf icon in her community. She also worked for the Colleton County School District where after many years of dedicated service she retired from Hampton Street Elementary School as a cafeteria manager. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Ruffin and will be fondly remembered for her love of study and memorizing her bible scriptures and her sweet loving kindness for others. f

Surviving are: a son, Scott Smoak of Boiling Springs; two daughters, Tina Smoak Williams of Pembroke, Georgia and Jessica Leah Smoak of Walterboro; and two brothers, Earl Guilford of Chapin and Wayne Guilford of Augusta, Georgia. There are four grandchildren, Ashley Hardee, Ronald Hill, Amber Hill, and Alexis Smoak.
