Mrs. Joyce Brown Floyd, 84, of Dilworth Lane in Rock Hill, formerly of Parkwood Circle in Walterboro, entered into rest Monday morning, November 18, 2013, at the Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill. She for fifty-seven years, was the wife of Master Sergeant Harold Clay Floyd, United States Army (Ret.) at the time of his death in 2008.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, November 20, 2013, from the graveside in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Hendersonville Highway, Walterboro. The Reverend Lewis Faulkenberry officiating.

Born November 30, 1928, a native of Jay, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Rass McCloud Brown and the late Lucy Almieor Borders Brown. She was a devoted wife to her husband during and after his military career, a loving mother who supported her daughters during all aspects of their lives, and a faithful friend to those who had the knowledge of the loving and gentle spirit she possessed. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Walterboro, which during her years in Walterboro was active in many aspects of the church’s work. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Chandler Place “Hillbilly Band”.

Surviving are: three daughters, Patsy Floyd Stack and her husband Joseph Dillard Stack, Jr. of Edgefield, Paula Floyd Myers and her husband Darrell Myers of Rock Hill, and Robin Floyd Bussey of Rock Hill. There are five grandchildren, Colin Jonathan Moore, Jr., Brenda Christine Miller, Harry Matthew Hiers, Darrell Kevin Myers, and Melody Klein; as well as thirteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. Among the many friends that Joyce was admired and survived by, she held a special place in her heart for the staff and also her friends and their families at Emeritus at Chandler Place in Rock Hill which was more than just a home for her during her last years.
