Joyce Wood Bishop

Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Wood Bishop, age 82, of Buffalo, Wyoming, who passed away quietly Wednesday morning, July 5, 2023, at her home in Buffalo, will be held Friday morning, July 14th at 10 o’clock from the Hopewell Baptist Church, 6869 Parkers Ferry Road, Adams Run. Interment will follow in the churchyard.

Joyce Janie Bishop was born on December 21, 1940, in Adams Run, South Carolina to James and Cherry Wood.  She grew up and went to school in Adams Run and Hollywood, South Carolina.  She graduated from St. Paul’s Academy in Hollywood with the class of 1960.  She was married in 1960 in Adams Run to Roger Bishop and they made their home on Parkers Ferry Road in Adams Run where Roger was a Barber and Joyce was a homemaker.  After retiring they continued living in Adams Run.  Mr. Bishop passed away in March of 2014.  In 2014 Joyce moved to Buffalo, Wyoming to be near her daughter.

Joyce and Roger were very active in the Hopewell Baptist Church and the Adams Run Community.  Roger was a Deacon in the Church and Joyce sang in the choir.  Joyce was an animal lover, but her passion was her family.

She is survived by one son Scotty Bishop and his wife Ann of Cottageville, South Carolina; one daughter Sarah Landsiedel of Buffalo; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and four sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 o’clock Friday morning, July 14, 2023, at Hopewell Baptist Church, Adams Run. Interment will follow in the churchyard.
