Mr. Josiah Tillman Ricker, affectionately known by many as Joe, age 65, of Sullivans Ferry Road, Cottageville, entered into eternal rest Thursday morning, April 18, 2013, at his residence following and extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Sunday afternoon, April 21, 2013, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Craig Crosby officiating. Interment will follow at Bedon Baptist Churchyard, 2410 Cottageville Highway, Walterboro.
Born August 15, 1947, a native of Charleston, he was a son of the late Robert F. Ricker and the late Ruby Craven Ricker. He resided in Charleston until making Cottageville his home in 1997. He was a heavy equipment operator for The Whitfield Company, and was of the Seventh Adventist Day faith. Joe was an avid outdoors man and hunting was one of his favorite pastimes, having been a member of Bees Ferry Hunting Club. He also loved fishing and was a huge karaoke fanatic, having traveled numerous places with his wife to sing and had on many occasions performed to raise money for others.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Lynn Bailey Ricker; eight children, Josiah Tillman Joey Ricker and his wife Missy of Charleston, Robbin Ricker Classen and her husband Albert of Jedburg, Rad McClendon and his wife Lisa of Concord, North Carolina, Ashley McClendon and his wife Michelle of Cottageville, Jon Paul Mikey McClendon of Cottageville, Brandon Phillips of Walterboro, Jenna Maxey and her fiancée Billy Wright of Summerville and Meagan Moran of Cottageville; five brothers, Butch Ricker of Darien, Georgia, Kenneth Ricker and his wife Connie of Guyton, Georgia, The Reverend Michael Ricker and his wife Cindy of Isle of Hope, Georgia, Jerry Ricker and his wife Rodney of Darien, Georgia, and Billy Ricker of Darien, Georgia; and three sisters, Dot Boone and her husband Don of Darien, Georgia, Susan Corllette and her husband Joey of Darien, Georgia, and Linda Roller of Darien, Georgia. There are sixteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; and his mother and father-in-law, Frances Bailey Monette and Andy of Walterboro as well as several nieces and nephews.
