Joshua Dale Hayes

Mr. Joshua Dale Hayes, known by all as “Josh”, 40, of Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Saturday, February 18, 2023, at his residence.

Born August 22, 1982, in Charleston, South Carolina, he was the son of Susan Yvonne Beach Maley and the late Jerry Dale Hayes.  Joshua spent most of his adult life in Virginia, where he worked for many years before returning back home to Walterboro in 2018. He worked as a Foreman for Appalachian Utilities, Utility Construction and most recently with TD Hiers Construction of Walterboro.  He loved his family above all else.  He was a man of many talents… a gifted musician as well as a gifted artist, doing oil paintings and drawings. He also had a love for antique cars, motorcycles, gardening, and he was a master in the kitchen.

Joshua loved life and new experiences.  He enjoyed traveling, fishing and hunting, he was true sportsman. He never had a loss for words on any given subject. He was a loyal and true friend to many, always eager to help those in need. A spark has gone out and his presence will be dearly missed.

Surviving in addition to his mother of Walterboro are:  two daughters, Lillian “Lillie” Grace Hayes and Izabella “Bella” Jade Hayes; his grandmother, Mrs. Annelle Beach Boensch; a nephew, Sean Hayes; and two beloved family pets, Banks and Molly; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dustin “Dusty” Butler and Michael Hayes; and his grandparents, A. Cranwell Boensch and Clarence and Beryl Hayes.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Saturday morning, February 25, 2023, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.   Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery, South Jefferies Boulevard, Walterboro.
