Joseph Carpenter

Mr. Joseph Gordon Carpenter, 63, of Bonnie Doone Road, Walterboro, entered into his eternal rest Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at his residence.
A memorial service will be conducted 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, April 21, 2012, from North Walterboro Baptist Church, 2177 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro, with The Reverend Curtis Pettit officiating. The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony that afternoon in the sanctuary of the church.
Mr. Carpenter was born May 9, 1948, in Glens Falls, New York, and was a son of the late Downy W. Carpenter and the late Ruth Gordon Carpenter. He was the retired electrical inspector for Florida City in Miami, and was a member of North Walterboro Baptist Church. He will always be remembered for his love of talking with others and for always doing anything he could to help people in need.
Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Donna Pelletier Carpenter; two daughters, Terri Hiers and her husband Earl of Walterboro and Cindy Carpenter and her husband Stephen of Burlington, Kentucky; three sons-in-law, Clifton Hiers of Walterboro, Rick Schirmer of Melbourne, Florida, and Jack Bell of Walterboro; a brother, Lewis Carpenter of Ft Lauderdale, Florida; and three sisters, Cooky Esworthy of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Bunny Sullo of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Debbie Terreros of Seabring, Florida. There are five grandchildren, Kristina, Michelle, Jessica, Ashley, and R.J.; as well as five great grandchildren, Bryan, Dylan, Riddick, Jay Jay, and Mariah. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight Carpenter.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed in his memory to: North Walterboro, Baptist Church, 2177 Jefferies Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
