Jorg Detlev Bewersdorf

Technical Sergeant Jorg Detlev Bewersdorf, United States Air Force (Ret.), age 69, of Cottageville, entered into rest Sunday morning, May 18, 2014, at his residence.
Funeral services with full military honors will be conducted 11 o'clock Saturday, May 24, 2014, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Rich Johnston officiating. The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony at the funeral home.
Born September 1, 1944, a son of the late Hans Bewersdorf and the late Irma Anton Bewersdorf, he was a native of Prague, Czechoslovakia. He resided in Summerville for nearly thirty years prior to making his home in the Cottageville area since the 1980's. He was the Lutheran Faith. He served our country faithfully in the United States Air Force where he served for forty years and at the time of his retirement from active duty was a Technical Sergeant. Jorg possessed an avid love for cars. Over the years, he was part of many car shows and had been awarded numerous trophies due to his work in specialized paint jobs and detail work. He also had built many small scale two wing aircrafts. He was a member of the American Legion and ABATE.
Survivors include: the light and love of his life, his wife, Mrs. Yvette Gephart Bewersdorf; four children, John Bewersdorf, Natasha Foote and her husband Chris, Roxanne Neiman, and Shannon Journey; a brother, Hans Christian Bewersdorf and his wife Lorrie; and a brother-in-law, Neal Gephart and his wife Sue. There are four grandchildren, Justin Neiman, Miranda Bewersdorf, Dylan James Foote, and Andrew McNesse; as well as a much beloved niece, Tony Bewersdorf Servino and her children, Colby Bewersdorf and Allyssia Bewersdorf. He was preceded in death by a son, Jorg Detlev Bewersdorf, Jr.
