Biography

Mr. Johnny Hampton Drawdy, 74, of Phillips Road, Walterboro, entered into eternal rest Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Colleton Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 11 am, Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Interment will follow in Bedon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Drawdy was born December 3, 1937 in Colleton County and was a son of the late Curtis Patterson Drawdy and Pauline Metts Drawdy. He worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard until it closed and retired from Fort Jackson. He served his country in the National Guard and was also a part of the Civil Air Patrol. He was a member of Bedon Baptist Church. Mr. Johnny loved working with his tools and was known as "Johnny the Tool Man" to many. More than anything, he loved his family, especially all of his girls.

Surviving are: his wife of 51 years, Barbara Douglas Drawdy of Walterboro; children, Randy Drawdy of Moncks Corner, Robin Varn of Walterboro and Kathy Drawdy of Walterboro; and grandchildren, Brandon Drawdy of North Carolina, and Heather Varn, Haley Varn, Hannah Drawdy and Riley Anne Drawdy, all of Walterboro.
