Johnny Carter

Mr. John William Carter, Jr., affectionately known as “Johnny”, 76, of Ehrhardt, entered into eternal rest Friday, June 5, 2020 at his residence.

Born May 25, 1944 in Ruffin, he was a son of the late John William Carter, Sr. and Mary Rentz Carter.  He served his country in the United States Army.  Johnny loved the outdoors and spent most of his life farming.  He enjoyed fishing and loved gardening, especially sharing his vegetables with everyone.  He was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, a church he loved dearly.  He truly enjoyed life, he loved his friends and neighbors, but most of all his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are: his wife of 52 years, Drema Sanders Carter of Ehrhardt; children, Clint Carter and his wife Tori, Monica Beard and her husband Michael, and Leonard Carter, all of Ehrhardt; grandchildren, Colin Carter, Amelia Carter, Taylor Carter, McKenzie Beard, McKinnley Beard, Carson Carter and Grayson Carter; sisters, his twin, Carolyn Kinard of Ehrhardt, and Maxie Welch of Ehrhardt; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Beard.

Funeral services will be held 2 o’clock, Sunday afternoon, June 7, 2020 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 9781 Broxton Bridge Road, Ehrhardt.  Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery, Lodge Road, Ehrhardt.  Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be limited seating available in the Church and the family requests that you please observe social distancing.
