VARNVILLE " Mr. Johnnie Jackson Schaffer, Jr., 61, of Varnville, entered into eternal rest Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Hampton Regional Medical Center.



Funeral services will be held 2 oclock Sunday, July 27, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Hampton directed by The Brice W. Herndon & Sons Funeral Home, Varnville-Hampton Chapel. Interment will follow in Grimes Cemetery in Grays.



Mr. Schaffer was born September 30, 1946 in Norfolk, Virginia and was a son of the late Johnnie Jackson Schaffer, Sr. and Clara Mae Smith Schaffer Thames and step-son of the late Joseph Thames. He was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and Columbia Commercial College. Mr. Schaffer was a retired Staff Accountant from Palmetto Electric Coop, Inc. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hampton, where he served as deacon, was a former Sunday School Class President, usher, nominating committee member and Mens Ministry member. Mr. Schaffer was a sports enthusiast and avid Carolina Gamecock fan. He loved his family and was an adoring father to his China Doll, Jenny.



Surviving are: his wife of 14 years, Dorothy Jane Hiers Schaffer; and his daughter, Jenny Elizabeth Ming Schaffer.
