Mr. John Henry Wooten, Sr., 63, of Nixville, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Roper Hospital.



Funeral services will be held 3 pm, Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Nixville Church of God of Prophecy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.



Mr. Wooten was born July 24, 1947 in Hampton County and was a son of the late Henry Montague Wooten and Lemerle Sheppard Wooten. He served his country faithfully and retired from the Army National Guard and also worked for Westinghouse and International Paper. He attended Nixville Church of God of Prophecy. He enjoyed fishing and traveling but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will always be remembered as a loving husband and father, a special brother, and as someone who provided for his family and went out of his way to help anyone. John was loved by all and will be greatly missed.



Surviving are: his wife, Reba Jarrell Wooten of Nixville; his children, Brenda Lee Wooten of Varnville, John Henry Wooten, Jr. of Estill, Judy Caroline Wooten Booker and her husband George of Buffalo, New York, Benjamin Eugene Wooten and his wife Jill of Hampton and Stacey Marie Wooten Harvey and her husband Anthony of Varnville; grandchildren, Kevin Robert Booker, Brandon Scott Booker, Carrie Lynn Booker, Lauren Ashley Harvey, Hunter Allen Harvey, Stephen Mikell and Craig Fennell; brothers, Charles Randy Wooten and his wife Sheryl of Grays and George Monty Wooten and his friend, Edith Alward of Lena; and sisters, Jacqueline McBride of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Sally Jo Moore and her husband Charles of Hampton. He was preceded in death by a son, David Jackson Wooten; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie Hugh Wooten, Sr. and Cathryn B. Kitty Wooten.
