John Eric Myers

Mr. John Eric Myers, 52, of Walterboro, entered into rest Wednesday evening, November 4, 2015, at the Saint Francis Hospital in Charleston.

Funeral services will be held 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon, November 8, 2015, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro.  The Reverend James Pedigo officiating.

The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony until 5 o’clock that afternoon in the Harbiston Stateroom of the Mortuary.

John was born July 3, 1963 in California.  At the age of 17, he entered the United States Navy’s Sea, Air, and Land Teams, known as the Navy SEALs, where he saw action in Lebanon.    He was a Senior Foreman Contractor with South Carolina Electric and Gas, for Ertel Construction, having primarily worked in the Charleston and Mount Pleasant areas.  John was an outdoorsman and family man.  He devoted his life to the needs and wants of his family whom he adored and among his greatest pastimes in life were hunting and fishing.  One of his greatest passions was caring for animals.

Surviving are: three children, John Andrew Myers and his wife Lauren Varn Myers of Orangeburg, Joshua Eric Myers of Walterboro, and Alicia Danielle Tripp and her husband Damon Logan Tripp of Ruffin; his father, Ronald Myers of Walterboro; and three brothers, Shawn Myers of Walterboro, Skip Myers of Walterboro, and Lonnie Myers of Florida.  There are four grandchildren, John Andrew Myers, Jr., Michael Joel Myers, Alethea Ann Myers, and Laci Renee Tripp.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Hauser; and his two wives, Rhonda Herndon Myers and Beverly Hiott Myers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in his memory to: L.E.A.R.N. Horse Rescue, Post Office Box 619, Ravenel, South Carolina 29470; or to the animal society or rescue of one’s choice.
