John M. Hawkins

Mr. John M. Hawkins, 77, of Ruffin, entered into rest Friday afternoon, March 5, 2021, at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

Born May 24, 1943, in Jackson, Mississippi, he was a son of the late Walter and Grace Hawkins.  He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era.  He was a faithful member of Community Baptist Church.

He is survived by a son, Jody Hawkins of Ruffin; a daughter, Dawn Griffin (Shannon) of Summerville; two grandchildren, Walter Brandon Hawkins of Maine and Savannah Griffin of Summerville; and two dear and devoted friends, Denna Parnell and Todd Land.  He was preceded in death by a wife, Kay Hawkins; a son, Luke Hawkins; and a grandson, Matthew Hawkins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to: Community Baptist Church, 15943 Bells Highway, Lodge, South Carolina 29082.

Funeral services will be conducted 6 o’clock Sunday evening, March 7, 2021, from Community Baptist Church, 15943 Bells Highway, Lodge.  Pastor Johnathan Mixson officiating.  Friends may call at the church prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 4 o’clock that afternoon.
