Mr. John Robert Bob Gusler, 83, of Hampstead, North Carolina, completed his heavenly transition on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the home of his son, Gus Gusler in Walterboro, South Carolina.
He was born April 2, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio and was a son of the late Lela and George T. Gusler. Bob was a graduate of West High School in Columbus, Ohio and was a member of the dance band. He married his high school sweetheart Rosalie and entered the Navy after graduation. He loved being on the water. After coming home from the service, he joined the family business Clean Products but soon left all behind to become an Entrepreneur in many different areas. His favorite adventure was owning a 100 Schooner called the Caribee which he sailed off the shores of Jamaica on the Caribbean Sea. He lived life to the fullest and once in awhile, enjoyed getting into his johnboat and catching a few fish in the tidal creeks, but mostly he spent his days looking across the bay in North Carolina. He was an entertaining individual and loved the great outdoors, especially water, whether it be the Big Darby Creek in Ohio or the Caribbean Ocean
He is sorely missed and survived by his five children, L.R. Gus Gusler and his wife Debbie Gusler of Walterboro, SC; Linda Gusler Samson of Grove City, Ohio; John S. Gusler of South Carolina; George T. Gusler and Roseanna Gusler of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He is also missed by nieces and nephews, Bob Mosier, Jim Mosier, Jane Gladwin, Roger Davis, John Davis, Virginia Arhelger, Nancy Steinfurth, Carole L. Gusler and George F. Gusler. He is survived by seven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Rosemary Gusler, who died earlier this year.
The family would like to thank all the concern and care extended to him by caregivers Patty Carter, Brandy Hodges, Carolyn Shider, and a special thanks to all the outstanding Nurses, Aids and Associates of Winyah Hospice who helped him be comfortable during his last days with us.
