Mr. Gordon was born April 4, 1939 in Madison, Wisconsin and was a son of the late Reverend John Holmes Gordon, Sr. and Helen Preston Gordon. He was a member of Christ-St. Pauls Parish and served his country in the United States Army. Known foremost as a wonderful husband and father, anyone who knew John, knew the love he possessed for his family, for God, and for his fellow man. His love for God led him into missions, first serving aboard the Mercy Ship, Anastasis, in Jamaica; and then with his family as missionaries for the Episcopal Diocese in the Dominican Republic. While there they re-built and restored Campamento Monte de la Transfiguracon in Pedregal Jarabocoa. John was a giving man who worked endlessly for those in need, always doing for others without expecting anything in return. In earlier years, John served as a volunteer firefighter and on the police department in Dallas, Pennsylvania. John was also a master craftsman who enjoyed using his woodworking talent to make crosses.
