John Wayne Carter, Sr

Biography

Mr. John Wayne Carter, Sr., 59, of Michelle Lane, Round O, entered into rest Tuesday morning, January 14, 2014, at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, January 17, 2014, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Cottageville Cemetery, Old Jacksonboro Road, Cottageville.

Born November 22, 1954, a native of Georgetown, South Carolina, he was a son of the late James Willie Carter and the late Rossie Howard Carter. He worked construction with John C. Calhoun Homes and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Round O. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping; and possessed a special passion for building.

Surviving are: his wife of forty-one years, Mrs. Linda Wheat Carter; two sons, John Wayne Carter, Jr. of Cottageville and James Earl Carter of Round O; two brothers, James Willie Carter, Jr. of Cottageville and Jimmy Parson of Hemmingway; and one sister, Sandra Brown of Summerville. There are five grandchildren, Buddy Crosby, Elizabeth Carter, Jonathan Carter, Samuel Carter and Ariana Carter as well as his mother-in-law, Mrs. Blanche Wheat that also survive. He was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Evans.
