Joe Martin

Mr. Jones Edward Martin, known to everyone as “Big Joe”, 66, of Lodge, passed away peacefully Monday, March 13, 2017 at MUSC.
Funeral services will be held at 3 pm, Friday, March 17, 2017 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Ehrhardt. Interment will follow on the family property in Lodge.
Born November 30, 1950 in Lodge, he was a son of the late Woodrow Wilson Martin and Alexina “Ziggy” Linder Martin. He owned and operated Martin Trucking for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and friends, and especially loved hanging out and greeting customers at Southern Spice Deer Processing. He was a member of Carter’s Ford Baptist Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Monica R. Martin of Lodge; children, Joseph “Little Joe” Martin of Lodge, Jones “Marty” Martin, Jr. of Ridgeland, Joann Martin of Bamberg, and Tammy Martin of Walterboro; brother, Woody Martin of Lodge; sisters, Pat Bobbert of Pennsylvania and Pam Steppe of Santee; and 11 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to: Friends of the Colleton County Animal Shelter (FoCCAS), 33 Poor Farm Road, Walterboro, SC 29488.
