Mr. Jesse Joseph Martin, affectionately known by many as Joe, age 67, of Walterboro, entered into his state of eternal rest Friday evening, July 9, 2010, at his residence under the care of Odyssey Health Care Hospice.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 oclock Wednesday afternoon, July 14, 2010, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery, 37 Forks Road, Islandton.
Mr. Martin was born February 9, 1943, in Colleton County and was a son of the late Joseph C. Martin and the late Nettie Nettles Martin. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Ear. He was a retired driver from Cummings Oil Company and was also a carpenter. He was a member of Peniel Baptist Church near Islandton and will be fondly remembered for his desire to help others in any way possible.
Surviving are: his wife of thirty-tree years, Mrs. Christine Chris Brownlee Martin; a son, Gene J. Ahl and his wife Wanda of Walterboro; and a daughter, Debbie Ahl of Coco, Florida. There are six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews that also survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven D. Ahl.
