Mr. Jerry Wayne Hardee, 72, of 205 Hardee Farm Lane, Walterboro, entered into his eternal rest Thursday evening, August 27, 2009, at Jewish Hospital, while on a business excursion in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Betty Ruth Jones Hardee.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 oclock Sunday afternoon, August 30, 2009, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Glendale Memorial Cemetery, 2210 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro.
Mr. Hardee was born November 28, 1937, in Tabor City, North Carolina and was a son of the late Robert Earnest Hardee and the late Lelia Mae Fowler Hardee. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy. He was the owner and operator of Hardee Trucking, having been a devoted member of the Boso Trucking Company for many years. He was of the Southern Baptist faith and had attended North Walterboro Baptist Church. He was known by many has a hard man with a big heart, he will fondly be recalled for the love he possessed for his farm, where he devoted many years of hard work, and for his horses which were one of his truest passions in life. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 1938 in Walterboro.
Surviving are: two sons, Ricky Hardee and his wife Beverly of Lodge and Robbie Hardee of Walterboro; a daughter, Lisa Needham of Saint George; and a brother, Eugene Hardee of Walterboro. Also surviving are, his companion, Mrs. Karen Davis of Walterboro; and three grandchildren, Hardee Baldwin of Bennetts Point, Rober Buckwheat Johnson of Lodge, and Crystal Johnson of Lodge as well as Chris Manning of Walterboro.
