Mrs. Jennie Fender Kinard, 91, of 3208 Halyard Road, Lodge, entered into her eternal rest Friday evening, July 3, 2009, surrounded by her loving family at the Lowcountry Assisted Living in Ehrhardt. She was the wife of the late Mr. Russell Lee Kinard.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 oclock Tuesday morning, July 7, 2009, from Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 2330 Ehrhardt Road, Ehrhardt, with The Reverend Michael Smith and The Reverend Grady Corder officiating. Interment will follow in Ehrhardt Cemetery, Ehrhardt.
Mrs. Kinard was born August 8, 1917, in Bamberg County and was a daughter of the late Joseph Edward Fender and the late Alice Irene Rentz Fender. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, where she was active in many aspects of the churchs work, but more especially the Womens Home and Foreign Missions Society having served as the groups Treasurer for many years. She possessed a true love for mankind, and the smile that was always present on her face showed the love she had for her family and others. She loved her home and garden, and tending to her flowers as well as spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was a true joy in her life. Her strong will and work ethic will always be remembered along with the long days she devoted to her late husband and family farm. She will also be remembered as a good southern cook who always enjoyed preparing meals for those she loved; and for the courageous battle she fought against cancer in recent years which allowed her to be a cancer survivor.
Surviving are: one son, Rusty Kinard of Lodge; and a sister, Dot Beheler and her husband D.C. of Jacksonville, Florida. There are five grandchildren, J. J. Cone and her husband Michael of Sycamore, Niki Jones and her husband Justin of Ashton, Barbie Brandt of Smoaks, Bubba Crosby of Lodge, and Russ Kinard of Lodge; six great grandchildren, Austin Jones, Mason Cone, McKenzie Crosby, Kearsen Jones, Carson Cone, and Moye Brandt; as well as a special niece and friend, Alice Gibson of Ehrhardt. She was preceded in death by her only daughter, Judy Kinard Crosby who died in 2000.
