Jennie Dempsey

Mrs. Jennie Martin Dempsey, 85, of Red Oak Road, Cottageville, entered into eternal rest Friday afternoon, December 6, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Caris Hospice. She was the widow of the late Mr. Howard William Dempsey, Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 o’clock Tuesday morning, December 10, 2013, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Sidney Mims officiating. Interment will follow in Ackerman Cemetery at Red Oak in Cottageville.

Born October 30, 1928 in Cottageville, she was a daughter of the late John S. Martin and the late Elizabeth Redman Martin. A devoted homemaker, she was a member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church in Cottageville.

Surviving are: her children, Carolyn Ingarra and her husband Joe of Ladson, Pat Dandridge and her husband Wayne of Cottageville, Debbie Harju and her husband Paul of Cottageville, and Bill Dempsey and his wife Kim of Clarksville, Tennessee. There are six grandchildren, Jenny Pelland, Theresa Rossiter, Karen Nease, Ashley Morgan, Laura Harju and Howard Dempsey; three great grandchildren, Emma Nease, Presley Nease, and Kaylee Kerchner; as well as many nieces and nephews that also survive. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
