Mrs. Jeannine Drena Spahr, 78, of Ireland Hills Drive in the Forest Hills Subdivision of Walterboro, entered into rest Thursday morning, November 14, 2013, at her residence under hospice care.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Sunday afternoon, November 17, 2013, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Bedon Baptist Churchyard, 2410 Cottageville Highway, Walterboro.
Born December 21, 1934, a native of Colleton County, she was reared by the late Jacob and Vera Crosby OQuinn. She was a retired circulation manager from The Post and Courier in Charleston. After her retirement from the newspaper, she became a breakfast hostess for the Best Western in Walterboro and also had worked for Hiotts Pharmacy on East Washington Street in Walterboro. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Walterboro, the Colleton County Historical and Preservation Society, and was faithful to her membership at Fitlife. She will be fondly remembered for her love of her family, always centering her life around their needs and activities.
Surviving are: her daughter, Patricia Spahr Smith and her husband Lynn of Walterboro; and a son, William M. Spahr, II of James Island. There are six grandchildren, Drena Smith Hazel and her husband Kevin, Sarah Spahr Kloboves and her husband Jon, Shannon Spahr Markel and her husband Shane, Jacob Benjamin Spahr, Carolynn Rebecca Spahr, and Allison Michelle Spahr; as well as two great grandchildren, Ellie Nicole Markel and Emily Dawn Markel. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Spahr Bowman who died in 1994.
The family will be at the home of Lynn and Patricia Smith, 210 Ireland Hills Drive in the Forest Hills Subdivision of Walterboro.
