Mrs. Jeanne Carter Blocker, affectionately known as “Mam”, age 68, of Phillips Road, Walterboro, entered into rest surrounded by her loving family Wednesday evening, October 23, 2013, at her residence under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, October 26, 2013, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Evergreen Christian Church Cemetery, Bells Highway, Walterboro.

Born November 30, 1944, a native of Walterboro, she was a daughter of the late William Lollis Carter and the late Jackie Maxey Carter Hiers. Jeanne was a retired employee of Hiott’s Pharmacy on East Washington Street in Walterboro where she worked faithfully as a pharmacy tech before her retirement. During her thirty-two years with Hiott’s, she became loved by a community that she served well and became a friend to countless people. She was a member of Evergreen Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. “Mam” will be fondly remembered for the love she possessed for her family always centering her life around them.

Surviving are: her husband of thirty-two years, Mr. James Stephen “Stevie” Blocker; two daughters, Melissa Reeves and her husband Kirby Reeves of Cottageville and Jodi Pfeffer and special friend Thomas Lane of Walterboro; a brother, Billy Carter of Walterboro; and four sisters, Terri Blackwell of Walterboro, Tammy Salter of Edisto Beach, Connie Hiers of Walterboro, and Gail Berry of Walterboro. There are five grandchildren, Nikki Reeves Nettles and her husband Ricky, Brittany Pfeffer Johnson and her husband Kerry, Jacob Reeves and his fiancée Ashleigh, Lindsey Pfeffer and her fiancé Justin, and Christa Baker as well as eight great grandchildren, McKenzie, Caroline, Bailey, T.J., Allison, Whitney, Lee, and Mason as well as a dear friend, Mrs. Mary Farmer.

In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to: Hospice Care of South Carolina, 134 Bells Highway, Walterboro, South Carolina 29488.
