Mrs. Jeanette Hiers Ackerman, 72, of 206 Edgewood Street, Walterboro, entered into her eternal rest Tuesday morning, February 10, 2009, at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice Care of South Carolina.



Funeral services will be conducted 3 oclock Thursday afternoon, February 12, 2009, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. Interment will follow in Ackerman Cemetery at Red Oak in Cottageville. The family has requested that the member of the Senior Friends serve as honorary escorts at the service.



Mrs. Ackerman was born October 5, 1936, in Colleton County, and was a daughter of the late George Hiers and the late Bertha Crosby Fender. She was known and will be remembered as a hard working woman. She was employed for several years with the Colleton County Sheriffs Department where she was a dispatcher and she also worked in the after hours answering department of Palmetto Rural Telephone and Coastal Electric Cooperative. She was a member of the Holiness Tabernacle and also attended the Walterboro Church of God. She was a member of the Senior Friends and the H2U of Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro and had a great love and devotion to her family and friends. She will be fondly recalled by all for her love of good Southern Cooking, Fishing the local creeks of Colleton County, and for favorite pastime of riding her golf cart.



Surviving are: her husband of forty-nine years, Charlie Ackerman, Jr.; a son, Chuck Ackerman and his wife Myrtice of Walterboro and their son Charles Ackerman, Jr.; and a daughter, Rhonda Bazzle and her husband James of Walterboro and their children, Jamie Bazzle, stationed in Iraq, Kevin Bazzle and Krystle Davis both of Walterboro.



Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has suggested that memorials be directed in her memory to: Hospice Care of South Carolina, 134 Bells Highway, Waltebroro, SC 29488.
