Mrs. Jean Elizabeth Riles, 74, of Bedon Road, Walterboro, entered into rest Friday evening, September 27, 2013, at the Aiken County Hospital. She was the wife of the late Mr. Vernon James Jimmy Riles, Jr., who was her loving husband and faithful companion of forty eight years at the time of his death in 2007.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 Tuesday afternoon, October 1, 2013, from the graveside at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville.
Born September 1, 1939, a native of Sumter, she was a daughter of the late James Freeman Rembert and the late Artelle Sellers Rembert. She was a retired legal secretary having worked during the span of her career for various law firms throughout the Charleston area and prior to her declining health was active at Bedon Baptist Church in Walterboro.
Surviving are: two sons, Raymond James Riles and his wife Patricia of Walterboro and CMSgt Ronald Freland Riles, United States Air Force (Ret.) and his wife Jinsong of Honolulu, Hawaii; and a sister, Judy Rembert Price (the late Frank Price) of Aiken. There is a grandson, Raymond James Riles, Jr. of Walterboro, and a step-grandson, William Chu Tully of Minneapolis; as well as two nieces, Paige Price McCluskey and her husband Chris of Anderson and Rachel Price Garcia and her husband Charles of Simpsonville; two nephews, Karl Morris, Jr. and his wife Katie and Kevin Morris and his wife Catherine all of Mount Pleasant; a sister-in-law, Linda Riles Morris and her husband Karl of James Island; and several grand nieces and nephews that also survive.
