Mrs. Jean Andrews Hollingsworth, 84, of James Island, entered into her eternal rest Saturday morning, November 24, 2012, at Sandpiper Nursing Facility in Mount Pleasant. She was the wife of the late Mr. Raymond Beaton Hollingsworth.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 oclock Tuesday afternoon, November 27, 2012, from The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The Reverend Father Thomas Kingsley officiant. Interment will follow in Ackerman Cemetery at Red Oak in Cottageville.
Born November 7, 1928, a native of Norfolk, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Allen H. Andrews and the late Alma Livingston Andrews. She was the retired Vice President of Purchasing at Besteel in Walterboro and after her retirement was employed in the Medical Records Division of the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. A longtime member of Maple Cane Baptist Church where for many years she was the churchs secretary and Choir director and along with her husband was very active with the youth group. After making Charleston County their home, she attended Mass with her family at Nativity Roman Catholic Church. She was an instrumental part of the Ladies Auxiliary at Givhans Fire Department. Jean will be remembered for the devotion she possessed for her loving family and the joy that singing brought to her heart.
Surviving are: two daughters, Carolyn Hollingsworth Smith and her husdand Timothy of James Island and Raye Hollingsworth Albers and her husband John of James Island; a son, Donald Allen Hollingsworth and his wife Nora of James Island; and a sister, Carolyn Haselden of Charleston. There are six grandchildren, John Albers, Mark Albers, T.J. Smith, Christy Smith, Raymond Hollingsworth, and Katrina Benton; as well as nine great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Albers, Sydney Albers, Garrett Albers, Carol Ann Smith, Maely Smith, Victoria Baskins, Raymond Hollingsworth, Jr., Michael Hollingsworth, and Kyle Hollingsworth that also survive.
