Mr. John D. “J.D.” Craven, 79, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 5 pm, Saturday, August 6, 2016 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Chapel, Walterboro. The entombment will be held privately in Glendale Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum.
Born September 23, 1936 in Walterboro, he was the son of the late Calvin Lee Craven and Lou Rae Warren Craven. He was a route salesman for West End Dairy and Steadman Seafood, and then retired after 32 years of service from Asten Hill in Walterboro. Mr. Craven was a faithful and committed member and trustee of the Walterboro Church of God of Prophecy, where had served in many roles. He dearly loved farming and working in his garden and loved to share what he grew with everyone. He was always fair to everyone, believing that what he did for one, he did for all. Most of all, he loved his family, always providing for them and making his wife, children, and grandchildren his priority.
Surviving are: his wife of 61 years, Betty R. DeWitt Craven of Walterboro; children, Sharon Craven Hillier and her husband Jeff, Brenda Craven Eustace and Roger Harriett, and Johnny R. Craven and his wife Donna, all of Walterboro; grandchildren, James Ronald “Jamie” Eustace, Jr., Brittany Leigh Eustace Nettles and her husband Joshua. Sarah Lyndsay Craven, and Shelby Rae Craven; and a nephew, George Kevin Craven of Round O. He was preceded in death by a sister, Celestial Aruhe Craven.
