Mrs. Janie Elizabeth Valentine, affectionately known by many as Lib, age 80, of Walterboro, entered into her state of eternal rest Thursday morning, May 6, 2010, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Mr. Herman Ray Valentine.
Funeral services will be conducted 4 oclock Friday afternoon, May 7, 2010, from the graveside at Grace Advent Christian Church Cemetery, 398 Mount Carmel Road, Walterboro with The Reverend Wayne Varnadoe officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the churchyard.
Mrs. Valentine was born June 6, 1929, in Williams and was a daughter of the late Ed Murdaugh and the late Charity Robertson. She was a seamstress with Smoaks Dress Plant where she worked until her retirement with thirty-three years of service. She was a member of Grace Advent Christian Church.
Surviving are: three children, Lynn Risher, Judy Fowler, and Glen Valentine all of Walterboro; a brother, Kenneth Murdaugh of Walterboro; and three sisters, Vivian Kinard of Smoaks, Rose Ann Thompson of Walterboro, and Marie Herndon of Walterboro. There are six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren that also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother, Carol Murdaugh; and two sisters, Emaline Smith and Louise Hiers.
