Janice Rebecca Phifer

Janice Rebecca Phifer, 79, of Walterboro, died Tuesday evening, November 19, 2019, at the Summerville Community Hospice House.  She was the loving wife of fifty-two years to the late Mr. James Edward Phifer at the time of his death in 2010.

Born March 14, 1940, in Georgetown, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late John E. Drayton and the late Sarah "Jeanette" Vaughn Drayton.  She was a devoted homemaker and had also in earlier years worked as a seamstress with Vestra Industries until the plants closing.    She was also a bookkeeper for Phifer Enterprises which is her son’s consulting business.  She was a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses where she participated in the field ministry and took great pride and devotion in sharing the good news of God’s Kingdom.

Surviving are: three sons, James Russell Phifer (Laura) of Greenville, John Mark Phifer (Ava) of Walterboro, and Brian Heath Phifer (Carla) of Walterboro; a daughter, Donna Phifer Ware (Charles) of Walterboro; three sisters, Margaret, Barbara, and Dorothy; five grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Brandon, Kaylee, and Joseph; and one great grandchild, Atlas; as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wylie and Frankie.

In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be directed in her memory to either the charity of one’s choice; or to Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses -www.jw.org.

A celebration of her life will be conducted 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon, November 23, 2019, from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses, 842 Bedon Road, (at the intersection of Bedon Road and Barracada Road) Walterboro. The family will receive friends following the funeral ceremony at the Kingdom Hall.
