Mrs. Janice Herndon Hughes, 63, of Cottageville, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at MUSC in Charleston.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3 pm until 5 pm, Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Cottageville Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hughes was born December 24, 1949 in Colleton County and was a daughter of the late Furman Lee Herndon and Bobbie Garris Dillard. She was a member of Cottageville Baptist Church. Mrs. Hughes was a caregiver to many and worked closely with Hospice of South Carolina. She enjoyed working in her yard and with her flowers. She always centered her life around her family. As her children grew up, she always followed their sporting events and activities and was a softball coach for many years. She will always be remembered as an amazing mother and grandmother, loving sister, and best friend to many.
Surviving are: her children, Robert Skeeter Reeves of Torrington, Wyoming, Tracey Meadows of Goldsboro, North Carolina and Brett Hughes of Cottageville; sister, Carol H. Craven of Walterboro; brother, Larry F. Herndon of Columbia; close friend, Jerry Reeves of Cottageville; 8 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
